MLAK keys for secure public access
Prestige Lock Service is an authorised seller of the MLAK system – a national program developed by the Master Locksmiths Association of Australasia. It provides eligible individuals with secure, independent access to locked public facilities across Australia, helping maintain cleanliness, safety and dignity.

What the MLAK key unlocks
The MLAK (Master Locksmiths Access Key) works with specially designed locks installed on:
- Accessible public toilets (including Changing Places facilities)
- Liberty Swings and inclusive playground equipment
- Elevators at train stations
- Council buildings, national parks and other MLAK-enabled locations
These sites are clearly marked with the MLAK symbol and can be accessed 24 hours a day.
Proof of eligibility
Who can apply for an MLAK key
To protect the integrity of the system, MLAK keys are only issued to eligible individuals. You’ll need to provide one of the following:
- A letter from a medical professional
- Documentation from a recognised disability organisation
- A valid Companion Card (available in some states)
We’ll check your documentation meets the standard before issuing the key.

MLAK keys are available for $35 plus postage. We’ll guide you through the approval process and ensure everything’s in order before issuing your key. Most approved applications are processed promptly, and we’ll include a full tax invoice with your purchase.
